Agriculture department releases P10M for 3 provincial farm roads

TABUK CITY, Kalinga - The Department of Agriculture (DA) recently released P10 million for three farm-to-market roads in the province for agriculture development towards achieving food security in the country.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Norma Frances Damian said the allocation will be spent for the construction of the Bantay FMR in this city; Belong-Manubal FMR in Tinglayan; and improvement of the Guilayon FMR, also of this city.

She said the allocation was part of the commitments of DA Secretary Proceso Alcala during his visit in the province.


“What were pledged by Secretary Alcala are coming and we are glad of those financial assistance as it boost the local agriculture,” Damian said.

Damian said the P10 million earlier released was spent for the construction of the Aluminit FMR in Rizal and Nambucayan FMR this city.

Governor Jocel Baac, meanwhile, informed that he is working on other proposals for financial allocation from other agencies to further bolster agricultural development in the province.

He said various communal irrigation systems (CIS) are being sourced out for funding either by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) or the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Baac said the first phase of the Cadamayan CIS in Uma, Lubuagan is on-going implementation. Also ongoing is the Masac-sac CIS in Mangali, Tanudan implemented by NIA and those assisted by the Japan for International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in partnership with DAR and LGUs. (Peter A. Balocnit)
