Tabuk hailed as National Rice Achiever

THE Tabuk City Government recently won as National Agri-Pinoy Rice Achiever, entitling them to a P1-million cash award and P20,000 each for 14 of its agricultural extension workers.
The Cordillera’s rice granary was hailed one of the top 46 outstanding municipalities while its 14 extension workers are among the best national achievers in the country.

Tabuk Mayor Ferdinand Tubban together with town officials will join other winners around the country who will be recognized by President Benigno Aquino III as national rice achievers on February 10 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
The Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers Award is given to local government units (LGUs) for their outstanding performances in promoting rice self-sufficiency and security in the country.
Tabuk City won the award in recognition of its outstanding performance in increasing rice production for the past three years; strong support to the program by allocating substantial amount of their budget to rice production; and good performance in the implementation of projects and activities of the Department of Agriculture in their area.
The city officially joined the contest by submitting a letter of intent to participate in the contest together with the documentary requirements such as production data for the past three years, endorsement of the governor, city profile; list of projects and activities, clients, among others.
