Councilors ask legal office to answer Office of the President order

THE City Council on Monday asked the city legal office to take charge of the body’s comments and other needed actions relative to the barangay administrative case of Bakakeng Central barangay chief Helen Miranda now pending before the Office of the President (OP).
The OP, through Undersecreatary and Assistant Executive Secretary for legal Affairs Ronaldo Geron, ordered the City Council to submit its comments on a memorandum on appeal filed by former Bakakeng Central Punong Barangay Alicia Pacsi-Dizon, et. al. for Miranda’s suspension over cases of grave misconduct and abuse of authority.
The Council, in September last year, suspended Miranda for six months but Pacsi and other complainants filed an appeal before the OP.
The OP order dated January 10 required the City Council and Miranda to submit within 15 days from receipt of the memorandum of appeal their comments which as prescribed should: “point out insufficiencies or inaccuracies in appellants’ statement of facts; and state the reason why the appeal should be denied or dismissed.” (Aileen Refuerzo)
