John Hay reinstates suspended workers

SUSPENDED employees who filed corruption complaints against John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC) director and president Jamie Eloise Manzano-Agbayani were called back to work Wednesday.
Arthur Odsey, Benjamin Quinio Jr. and Melquiades Bada said they faced JHMC lawyers at Department of Labor and Employment in a mediation meeting Tuesday morning after a memo suspending them from work was given, stating all three were in breach of the JHMC Code of Discipline punishable by termination.
Lawyer for the trio Mary Bayang said the suspension notice was issued without due process because the recipients were not informed of any specific act that may have constituted a violation of the JHMC Code of Discipline.
The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) meeting yielded an agreement that the trio would return to work immediately while negotiations on wages during their two-week suspension are being worked out.
Odsey, Quino and Bada belong to a group of seventeen who filed before the Ombudsman and the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines a complaint against Agbayani for excessive spending of government funds.
Another Dole meeting is set on February 20. (Ma. Elena Catajan)
