Media demands justice for murdered colleague

BANGUED, Abra - Members of the Journalists and Correspondents Club of Abra (Jacca), an organization of local media here, continue to demand for continuing justice for the brutal murder of radio DJ Cirilo Gallardo last year and all victims of killings in the province.
The Jacca conducted a motorcade around the town proper of Bangued and Tayum and to the tomb of Sir Ciril a.k.a. Geo Rabbit and Totsyril of DWWM Spirit FM radio last January 30 in commemoration of his first death anniversary.

Gallardo was found brutally killed with multiple stab wounds in different parts of his body early morning of January 31, 2011 in his boarding house in Barangay Bangbangar, Bangued.
After the motorcade and offering of flowers and candles at Gallardo's tomb at the Tayum Catholic Cemetery, the Jacca members had their reorganizational meeting and election of officers.
The following are the newly elected officers of the JACCA: President - Serafin Alzate of the Provincial Information Office; Vice-President - Benedict Bersamira of the Baguio Chronicle ; Secretary - Jelly Belaras of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA); Treasurer - Charo Bringas of DWGF-HOT FM radio; Auditor - Frank Asia of Abra Today; Public Relations Officer - Julie Anne Chu-Trinidad of Abra Today.The Board of Directors who represent all the media outfits in Abra is chaired by Dr. Maria Teresa Benas of the PIA, with Arnel Adriatico of the DZPA-CMN as vice-chairman.
Regular membership to the Jacca is limited to practicing journalists with media outfits whole associate membership is open to freelance journalists and correspondents and campus journalists.
The PIA Office serves as the official office of the JACCA, who at the same time, serves as the secretariat for the organization. (Maritess B. Beñas)
