AROUND P25-million worth of farm machineries, equipment and post-harvest facilities have been distributed by the Department of Agriculture (DA) last month.
DA OIC-regional executive director Marilyn Sta. Catalina said the inputs they have been giving is in response to project proposals submitted by farmers and farmers’ organizations to the regional office that went through the validation process.

The inputs started include spring development projects, pump engine sets, multi-purpose drying pavements, mechanical flatbed driers, hand tractors and other agricultural equipment.
All Cordillera provinces were given their farm machineries and equipment worth P3.412 million in Abra; P3.294 million in Apayao; P2.306 million in Benguet; P3.017 million in Ifugao; P4.409 million in Kalinga and P3.348 million in Mt. Province.
Regional Agricultural Engineering Division Chief Felimon Salvador reported most of the beneficiaries already received the farm machineries they requested from the agency.
Other beneficiaries, meanwhile, have to comply with other documentary requirements before their requested farm equipment is released to them, Salvador added.
DA operations officer Virginia Tapat said the farm support will address specific needs of farmers in advancing food security in the region.
Sta. Catalina stressed they have focused their efforts in the provision of the much needed infrastructure and equipment of farmers to reach the goal of the department for food sufficiency by the end of President Benigno Aquino III’s term.
