IFUGAO Representative Teodoro Baguilat Jr. called Kalinga Representative Manuel Agyao as the ‘catch of the day’ as he revealed the continuing strengthening of Liberal Party (LP) ranks in the region.
“He was personally invited by the Liberal Party, through [Department of the Interior and Local Government] Secretary Jesse Robredo,” Baguilat said.
However, the lawmaker also stressed this will still be discussed by Kalinga LP members, including Governor Jocel Baac and former congressman Lawrence Wacnang.
“Then there’s Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan who might formalize his joining by that time,” Baguilat said.
President Benigno Aquino III is expected to visit La Trinidad to induct LP’s new members in the region on June 25.
Baguilat said the President asked for the regional convention and induction of the Liberal Party to be held at the Benguet State University.
Baguilat said Aquino has been actively going around the country seeing to it he attends all the regional conventions and induction of his party.
The lawmaker also said more nominations of various politicians in the region are up. “This is what the Liberal Party really intends to do, to strengthen the party in the region and in the country.”
But one thing is for sure, Baguio Representative Bernardo Vergara is not going to be one of the prize catches of the day.
