LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Alarmed over the surge in rape cases in the province, Governor Nestor Fongwan urged the Regional Action Group (RAG) to find solutions.

RAG is composed of stakeholders from all sectors converging to talk about issues relevant to the province’s needs.

The Cordillera police reported last week that Benguet topped the regional count for rape cases from January to March.

Fongwan said he is also set to talk to Provincial Director Benjamin Lusad to collaborate with police.

Benguet has 13 cases, Baguio City and Ifugao have six cases each, while Abra logged eight cases, followed by Apayao with four cases, Mountain Province with two and Kalinga with one.

Fongwan also called the Department of Social Welfare and Development for a talk to help find a solution to the rampant rape cases here as well as to address issues on child abuses as well as malnutrition.
