Police ready blue boxes for disasters

CAMP BADO Dangwa, Benguet -- The Police Regional Office Cordillera (Procor) proudly revealed they now have blue boxes for responding to the needs of community during disasters.
Procor Regional Director Benjamin Magalong said their office has 45 blue boxes containing different equipment and gadgets for rescue operations.
He said the blue box was first used by Camp Crame. Magalong further said this would be the first time the regional office will use such blue box.
Magalong said with this box, they can now respond to calamities like landslide, flood, collapsed structure and any rescue operations efficiently.
He revealed his members had been training on the different basic life supports on rescue, fire, collapsed structure, flood, GPS, navigation and mountain accidents.
He added they will add more police enforcers in the different stations to be able to respond immediately to any accident.
Magalong said municipal police stations can avail of the blue boxes from the Procor through the local government funding.
Various agencies like the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Office of the Civil Defense, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Public Works and Highways, and Procor, among others stated their agencies are ready this time to respond to any emergency call.
These agencies encouraged the public to report immediately any accident or emergency in order to minimize further damage.
