TUBLAY, Benguet –- Daycare teachers and pupils’ parents will soon meet to settle some misunderstandings in this town.
The Municipal Council said on Monday some parents of the children in daycare schools complained of the ‘poor’ services the teachers render.
Some parents said the teachers don’t know how to teach their children.
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Aurea Jane Penrad admitted there are some teachers who complain on the teaching strategy of their fellow teachers.
However, she said these parents have too high expectations that are impossible to meet.
Penrad added the teachers offer only the basic knowledge because they cater to three to four year old children. She said the parents should understand that kindergarten only has a four-hour session in a day.
She clarified that kindergarten doesn’t actually have “classes” but only “sessions.”
She added most of their teachers are undergraduates but said they had been teaching for years.
The council and Penrad believed their orientation to the parents, with the presence of the teachers, will help a lot to settle the misunderstanding.
Penrad said they already started the orientation last July 5. Their next target will be in Barangay Baayan.
She added they will proceed to the other barangays within the month.
As of July 5, the town has 24 daycare schools serving 379 children.
