Applications for DOST scholarship now open

THE Department of Science and Technology–Science Education Institute (Dost-SEI) is now accepting applications for the 2012 Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) programs.

According to Dost-Cordillera Regional Director Julius Caesar Sicat, the JLLS program has two scholarship component, Republic Act 7687 (S&T scholarship Act of 1994) for poor, talented and deserving students and the Merit scholarship program. Both are being offered to regular third year students who are enrolled in any of the S&T priority courses listed under the program.

Benefits for qualified scholars of the Dost-SEI JLLS program include: educational financial assistance of P6,000 per semester; P5,000 book allowance per year; P5,000 stipend per month for Bachelor of Science in Physics/Applied Physics/Physics teaching/Geology and Mining Engineering; and P4,000 stipend per month on other DOST-SEI Priority courses, as well as a P1,000 post graduation clothing allowance.

Brochures and application forms can be obtained at the Dost Regional Office in Km. 6 La Trinidad, Benguet or at its Urban Science and Technology Center located along Governor Pack, Road Baguio City.

Deadline for filing of application is on August 24, 2012 while the qualifying examination is scheduled on September 22 at the Dost Regional Office.
