2 assassins nabbed

BANGUED, Abra -- Two alleged members of a gun–for–hire group in town were recently arrested while another person was nabbed for illegal possession of firearms.
The Bangued Municipal Police station, Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB), Special Action Force, and the Provincial Intelligence Branch were able to arrest the two alleged members at the Rainbow Videoke Bar in Sta. Rosa around 5:45 p.m. of August 16.
The suspects were identified as Jomar Bersalona, 32, married and a resident of Banacao; and Jojo Delos Santos, 25, single and a resident of Agtangao.
Police investigation revealed the two were drinking at the bar when they were apprehended by responding police officers. The police enforcers learned about the suspects through a telephone call from a concerned citizen.
Police officers seized a .45 caliber Norinco pistol with one magazine loaded with seven live bullets in the possessions of Bersalona.
On the other hand, Delos Santos was in the possession of a Colt MK IV Cal. 45 pistol with a magazine loaded with five bullets.
Moreover, investigation revealed that Bersalona is also a suspect in a series of shooting incidents that happened at Cebuana Lhuillier Taft St., Zone 5, Mega Centrum Zone, and at the Calamba Bridge shooting incident on February 9.
Meanwhile, another person was arrested in a checkpoint operation along Sinalang, Ubbog-Lipcan by personnel of RPSB about 11:05 a.m. of August 16.
He was identified as Wrylo Palecpec, 20 years old, single and a resident of Poblacion East, Pidigan, Abra.
Investigation revealed the suspect was riding in his Honda XRM Motorcycle with plate no 1893 AI when he noticed a checkpoint was set up along his path.
He immediately turned back and tried to flee but he was accosted by some personnel manning the checkpoint.
Police enforcers confiscated from his direct possession a Cal. 9mm Kassnar London with a magazine but without ammunition.
All the suspects are now in Bangued Municipal Police Station while charges of illegal possessions of firearms are being prepared for filing in court.
