Public school teachers, writers help develop K+12 materials

TO CONTINUE the implementation of K to 12 and in preparation for Grades 8 and 2, two teacher-writers from Pines City National High School attended the National Orientation Seminar-Workshop on the Development of K to 12 Learner’s Materials and Teacher’s Guides last August 14-17 at Tagaytay City.
The seminar-workshop focused on the writeshop and critiquing of teaching guides and learner’s materials, with the discussion of related topics such as the following: overview of the K to 12 basic education curriculum with its standards and competencies; social content guidelines; intellectual property law and security copyright permission; design requirements including maximizing use of visuals and illustrations; integrating ICT in the instructional design; guidelines and tips on writing modules; editorial requirements and the like.
Judith Javier, for the Health component of MAPEH, and Armi Victoria Fiangaan for English represented PCNHS.
The activity will also cover a series of writeshops, schedule for validation, revision and finalization of teacher’s guides and learning modules to be submitted in time for the next school year. (Armi Victoria A. Fiangaan)
