TINOC, Ifugao –- Police enforcers of the provinces joined their efforts on the recent eradication of fully grown marijuana in town.

Officer–in–charge of the Ifugao Police Office Superintendent Ramil Saculles initiated a review and assessment of the operational environment particularly in town for marijuana eradication. The initiative was guided with the instruction of Regional Director of Police Regional Office-Cordillera (Procor) Benjamin Magalong.

After by Police Inspector Rodolfo Fateg, chief of police, assisted by the validating the presence of a marijuana plantation, personnel of Tinoc Municipal Police Station led Barangay Officials of Tulludan engaged in marijuana eradication on August 27.

The operating troops uprooted 4,000 fully grown marijuana plants in an area of 1,000 square meters plantation with an estimated Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) value of P800,000.

The same operating troops uprooted 400 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants in a 100-square meters plantation in Apuyan, Tulludan, Tinoc with estimated DDB value of P80,000.

The personnel destroyed all evidences on sites with an aggregate total DDB value of P880,000. A certificate was duly signed by Jose Mangibin Jr., president of Tulludan Farmers Organization; Leo Ullani, PTA president; and Alejo Dulnuan which proved the veracity of operation.

The police team withdrew with sample of marijuana plants which was brought to the Provincial Headquarters Camp Joaquin Dulnuan, Lagawe, Ifugao for evidentiary purposes.

Efforts of the operating personnel to identify cultivators for possible filing of charges were not sustained.

However, Procor Police Chief Inspector Enrique Ennangen said: “the community approach through sustained information and continuing education will certainly addressed the culture of silent among residents to testify against the perpetrator in the succeeding operations. The collaborative support of the Barangay Officials and Tanods as force multiplier depicts a good partnership in our relentless campaign on illegal drugs”.

“Such remarkable accomplishment of Barangay Officials and Tanod members involved in the marijuana eradication is commendable to inspire them to be more active in the enforcement of laws.”

He also added the campaign on illegal drugs was spelled out under the Program Thrust of Ifugao Provincial Police Office to reduce the supply and demand of marijuana productions and its derivatives in the province.
