Ifugao nutrition office trains health workers

HUNGDUAN, Ifugao -- The Provincial Government through the nutrition office has trained 32 community nutrition implementers in this town.
Corazon Dawong of the nutrition office, said the participants composed of barangay captains, midwives and nutrition scholars attended the two-day nutrition planning workshop held at the municipal building last August 28-29.
“The training aimed to sustain the good performance of the province through information education and continued activation of municipal and barangay nutrition committees since they are the direct implementers and service providers at the grassroot level,” she said.
Dawong explained that the nutrition workshop was also intended to strengthen the capability of low performing local nutrition committees in coping-up and managing their nutrition plans to be more effective nutrition partners.
Among the topics discussed during the first day were milestone of the nutrition program; Philippine Plan of Action on Nutrition organizational structure; BNC mobilization and reactivation; contextualizing the barangay nutrition action plan (BNAP) in the local development plan.
The second day was concentrated for BNAP formulation workshops using the different nutrition formats and presentation of outputs for evaluation.
Dawong disclosed that the same nutrition workshop was conducted in the municipalities of Hingyon and Tinoc early this month.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Nutrition Council is set to maintain the implementation of locally initiated projects for the protection of undernourished children in the province.
These projects like the Integrated Area Development Assistance Project; Todok Ahin hi School; Adopt a Barangay; Search for the Nutrition Friendly School Canteen and Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee and Barya mo para sa Kalusugan ko are being implemented by the different members agencies and departments especially the provincial government.
