THE National Power Corporation–Upper Agno River Watershed (Napocor-UARWAT) is conducting an Information Education Campaign (IEC) on forest protection, conservation and eco-waste management in different schools within its catchment area.
The IEC team conducted the information campaign at Bokod National High School-Main and Pilpiok Elementary School, Pito, Bokod, Benguet last September 6. Other schools and barangays will follow.
The EIC aims to inculcate the importance of protecting the environment.
The facilitators enumerated four kinds of environment: natural, built, spatial, and social and cultural.
They said the destruction of the environment will also affect the “food chain” that would result in the destruction of life.
With this, the facilitators challenged the students on what they can do to help preserve and protect the environment.
The IEC is targeting schools because “they are the center for education.”
The facilitators believe that the students will disseminate the information to their parents, brothers and sisters, and apply what they have learned to protect the environment. (Benjamin M. Dio-al)
