LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Governor Nestor Fongwan vows for a peaceful province during the 2013 election.
Fongwan said Benguet province is known for its politics free from violence and scandals.
Fongwan said, “We are a peaceful province and we have a province of intelligent voters.”
He said the province is known to house a voter core who chooses candidates for their qualifications and achievements.
According to the governor, money is also not an issue in Benguet politics as candidates are rated by performance and not by pricy campaign standards.
Meanwhile, the municipal office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), said they are expecting heavy filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) in the coming days.
The governor is set to file his COC at the Baguio Comelec later this week along with his complete line up under the National Unity Party.
The Liberal Party in the province is led by Representative Ronnie Cosalan, gunning for reelection. He filed his COC early Monday morning but the party has yet to complete its slate for the midterm elections.
