Benguet’s Adivay Festival reveals activity schedule

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet - Adivay 2012 is themed “Accelerating Response to Social Challenges,” focusing on the call of the times to adapt to various needs.
The annual celebration will formally open on November 8 with an ecumenical service as well as a press conference.
Issues on social services, child care, education and health will be highlighted to better service province folk.
On November 9, an environmental forum is slated as well as a mass wedding in Sablan town; the pre-pageant search for Mr. and Ms. Benguet will also commence on this day.
On November 13, the opening of the grand trade fair at the Wangal Sports Center will start along with a job fair and a medical and surgical outreach.
On November 17, the Agro Industrial Trade Fair will open with the traditional 13 towns of the province vying for the best booth presentation.
Each town will present local arts, crafts as well as One Town One Product best; the Animallandia show will also take place after the opening salvo with a dog show and a skills competition on Kiniing and Kinduay making.
On November 23, the provincial foundation day, a grand cañao will celebrate the 112th founding anniversary of the province; the day will also be dedicated to Overseas Filipino Workers and Balikbayans.
Ceremonies will be given to officials who have served the province in the past to highlight the festivities as well as recognition of provincial scholars and overseas Filipino workers from the province.
Sports activities will also extend the celebration until the closing on November 25.
For the month-long celebrations, the official list of Guests of honor and speakers have yet to be finalized and announced.
