Itogon mayor seeks second term

ITOGON, Benguet - Mayor Oscar Camantiles is aspiring for second term as the town’s local chief executive.
Camantiles filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) Tuesday, October 2. He said he opted to run as independent politician along with most of the officials in town.
Camantiles started his political career in 2004 where he was then elected as barangay official of Dalupirip. He was then a member of the National Peoples’ Coalition. He served the barangay until 2010.
In May 2010, he ran and was elected as the mayor of the municipality.
Camantiles said that once re–elected, he will continue his Change program comprising the comprehensive re–organization of the organization structures; human resource development; active empowerment and participation of the stakeholders; natural resources development program; good governance; and environmental protection.
He said they were able to implement this program excellently with the active efforts of the different line agencies and the people.
With this great performance, he said his town was awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping in the early months of 2012. He added the municipality is also one of the nominees for the national Lingkod Bayan award. The winner of the award will soon be announced.
