-A A +ASunday, October 7, 2012
OVER 300 residents in Itogon town were given medical, dental and surgical services by the Baguio Masonic Fraternal Association last September 29.
SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet (Snap-Benguet) supported a medical outreach with the association for 311 residents of the municipality.
The medical team was composed of 53 volunteers from Pines City College of Nursing, Police Regional Office-Cordillera, Baguio General Hospital, Benguet Dental Association, University of Baguio Clinicians, and University of Baguio College of Medical Technology.
Members of the Master Masons from Lodge 67 and 344, Apprentices and Fellowcraft Masons, Petitioners, Job’s Daughters, and Demolays were on hand to assist the medical team during the mission.
Baguio offices of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority-Baguio and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency also conducted an orientation on Disaster Risk Reduction and Safety and an Anti-Drug Abuse lecture during the program.
The outreach is part of a second in a series of medical missions by Snap-Benguet and Baguio Lodge 67. The first one was held in March of this year in Barangay Ambuklao in Bokod.
Health is one of Snap-Benguet’s key result areas in its corporate social responsibility program, driven by a need to improve health care systems focusing in communities where the twin dams operate.
To date Snap-Benguet has turned over P41 million in Corporate Social Responsibility projects in the province for 2011.
Host communities of Tinongdan, Tikey Barangay, Ambuklao Barangay, Bokod, Benguet Province, Itogon Municipality and Tinongdan Barangay were recipients of the projects completed by the hydro company last year. (Ma. Elena Catajan)
