THREE candidates in Mt. Province remain unchallenged.
These are Besao Vice Mayor Harry Luis Baliaga, Vice Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan and Bauko Vice Mayor Simon Lacwasan of the Liberal Party (LP).
The Commission on Elections regional office revealed a total of 332 aspirants for councilors, vice mayors and mayors in the province. Most of these candidates opted to be independent from any party in the upcoming May 2013 election.
Among the 10 municipalities of Mt. Province, Sadanga has the highest number of candidates, while Besao has the lowest aspirants in all local positions.
In Sadanga, six candidates filed their certificates of candidacy for mayoralty position and vice mayor post. Geraldo Agkut, Gabino Ganggangan of LP and Banat Walis are the contenders for the executive seat, while Joseph Apopot, Albert Ayao–ao, and Vicente Tic–chap are up for the vice mayor post.
Meanwhile, Besao competitors for mayor are Go Martin and Wellington Pooten of LP. The unopposed vice mayor candidate Baliaga is from this town.
In Bontoc, Franklin Odsey and Pascual Sacgaca Sr. of LP are the candidates for mayor, while Ignacio Afidchao, William Aspilan of LP and Peter Puma–at are the contenders for the presiding officer of the legislative body.
Incumbent Mateo Chiyawan of LP and Djarma Rafael vie for the mayoralty position of Natonin town. Abel Eagsao of LP and Leonel Dulay will compete for vice mayor.
Candidates for Sagada’s executive head are Eduardo Latawan Jr. of LP, Joey Taltala and Richard Yodong. Vice mayor candidates are John Bagsingit, Benjamin Capuyan and Jenny Ticag.
The province’s aspirants for governors are Harry Dominguez, Leonard Mayaen and Arnulfo Pilando, while Bonifacio Lacwasan who filed his candidacy for vice governor is unopposed.
There are nine aspirants for board members in district 1, while 10 candidates are vying as board members for the second district.
