MAYOR Mauricio Domogan discourages on Monday the individualized sale of firecrackers but instead pushes for a safer centralized fireworks display that will be organized by the City Government.
This, as fireworks vendors are already seeking permits from the city to sell pyrotechnics for the Yuletide season.
“Individualized selling of firecrackers discourages us because of the growing number of firecracker-related injuries yearly,” he said.
This early, the city mayor warned those who plan to sell firecrackers and pyrotechnics this December that his administration advocates for a safer and happier New Year celebration where residents will be spending less and enjoy pollution-free and health hazard-free celebrations.
He said the quality of firecrackers in the city is still not reliable and cannot be guaranteed safe for use by people even in manufacturing areas such as Bulacan.
He claimed they are advocating for the city to organize a synchronized fireworks display in coordination with other private establishments to come up with a safe yet very entertaining pyrotechnic show that can be enjoyed by the public.
He also called on members of the City Council to support his stand as many vendors are already lobbying to councilors as early as this month to sell firecrackers starting December.
