AT LEAST four medical doctors have fallen prey to scam artists posing as Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) officers.
BIR regional director Eduardo Bajador warned the taxpaying public of unscrupulous individuals posing as bureau employees and soliciting cash for a dinner-for-a-cause on November 3 at Camp John Hay.
Bajador sought the help of the Baguio City Police Office and the National Bureau of Investigation to apprehend these scam artists fooling doctors into giving money for a dinner for a cause.
The regional director advised the taxpaying public to contact the nearest police station if someone approaches them posing as BIR employees soliciting money for such activities.
The BIR director also emphasized their agency is serious in eradicating these solicitation gimmicks in the same efforts as their campaign to apprehend tax evaders in the country.
