Lawmaker allots fund for city farm roads

REPRESENTATIVE Bernardo Vergara recently was able to secure funds for eight farm-to-market roads in Baguio City.
The lone district representative was also able to source P8 million from the savings of the Department of Agriculture in its 2011 budget.
The P8 million will be used for the development of eight barangay farm-to-market roads in Pacdal, Irisan, Sto. Tomas, Pinsao Pilot, Loakan Proper, Fairview, Pinget and Leonila Hill.
Vergara said despite the city’s highly urbanized status, several portions of the city still have patches of agricultural areas and lands.
These areas will need farm to market roads to hasten delivery of farm produce to the city market and in other areas where they will market their farm outputs.
The bid for the road constructions is scheduled to happen immediately through the Department of Public Works and Highways who will implement the projects. (JM Agreda)
