LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Governor Nestor Fongwan has ordered the newly installed provincial director, Rodolfo Azurin Jr., to focus on important aspects of the province.
Fongwan provided Azurin a list of priorities, which he hopes to be accomplished together.
Topping the list of Fongwan was the request of a heightened police visibility to act as a deterrent for the rise in crime.
An emphasis on the environmental laws specifically Presidential Decree 705, or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, was implored, as well as a watch on illegal loggers in a bid to help the environmental department implement the total log ban.
Fongwan said a tighter watch on violations against the environment is needed for the province with a proliferation of illegal loggers in some areas.
The governor also said safety of motorists in all Benguet roads is needed.
Fongwan said additional police compacts will also be constructed within the province to allow more policemen to patrol the areas.
The newest police compact set up were in Kabayan and Mt. Pulag, considered key destinations in the province, frequented by locals and tourists alike.
Last week, the governor turned over three motorcycles to the police chief in a bid to help mobility of uniformed police throughout the province.
