Man found dead on Valentine’s Day

A MAN was killed and dumped in La Trinidad, Benguet, on Thursday, Valentine’s Day, said Benguet Police Chief Byron Allatog.
Allatog said they received a radio call from SPO4 Jose Sequerra, Team leader of Compac in Ambiong, La Trinidad, informing them of a discovered male cadaver. The cadaver was found lying along Lower Riverside, Ambiong.
Allatog said upon receipt of the information, personnel of the station led by Police Inspectors Magastino Kayat and Azalea Reyas Nucup proceeded to the crime scene and conducted initial investigation.
Investigation showed the cadaver was lying on a prone position around three meters away down the parapet of the road; the head was covered with black cellophane bag. The man was wearing bloodied jeans. The person had no upper garments and beside the body were colored cream t-shirt and blue sweatshirt with hood.
Witness Monding Wakat, 25, resident at Lower Riverside, Ambiong, who reported the incident, said that at 11:45 p.m. of February 14, he noticed the cadaver while he was walking along the parapet of the road.
The victim was later identified through his driver’s license with picture as Winston Guinyawan, 32, (Born Nov. 22, 1980) with address at No. 595 Bilbao St., Tondo, Manila. The cadaver was brought to La Paz Funeral, Baguio City for autopsy.
Scene of the Crime Operatives team led by Provincial Chief of Benguet Police Superintendent Maurice Coria-En said the case is still under investigation to determine the motive behind the killing and the identities of the assailant.
