City infra projects on track: DPWH
-A A +ASunday, February 17, 2013
ALL government infrastructure projects in Baguio City are well on track for completion earlier this year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported.
DPWH Baguio district engineer Ireneo Gallato said the 33 infrastructure projects under his turf are now being completed after early bidding done last December.
Gallato said the election ban will only cover projects that are not implemented prior to March 29 to May 13.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Resolution 9585 states construction of public works, delivery of materials of public works and issuance of treasury warrants and similar devices are prohibited from March 29 until May 13, 2013.
The resolution added no person may undertake the construction of any public works, except for projects submitted to the commission on or before March 29, 2013.
Gallato said projects to be carried out while the ban is ongoing will have to secure exemptions from the Comelec through their office.
The district engineer said he is hopeful most of these projects of the DPWH in the city amounting to some P380 million will be completed before the election ban. (JM Agreda)
