PROFESSIONAL photographers recently conducted the Capture Panagbenga photography workshop in a bid to give inexpensive lectures to aspiring photographers.
Karl Timothy Sena and Chrisna Nevada, both members of the Baguio Photographer Club (BPC), organized the event, which featured lectures from professional photographers like Ricky Ladia, Wesley Villarica, Maricris Carlos, Jon Carlos, and Nigel Laxamana.
Photography workshops are expensive, a major reason why only few can afford to join a photo workshop.
“Tinulungan namin yung mga estudyante na maabot yung workshop na nakukuha ng mga [professional photographers] para everybody who loves photography can learn. Hindi yung mga mayayaman lang or yung mga may gamit lang,” Sena said.
“Yung mga photo enthusiast and students will get a taste of different genre of photography. Makikita na nila yung direction nila on where to start,” Nevada added.
The first day of workshop, which catered students from different schools in Baguio City, was held at the University of Baguio Gym last February 21.
Basic photography was discussed by Ricky Ladia while other facilitators discussed portrait photography, landscape photography, and fashion photography.
The second day happened at the Route 55 on Legarda Road last February 22, which covered both professional and amateur photographers.
Sena said the second day was more on the technical aspect claiming it is more rigid and includes a lighting workshop.
More than a hundred students participated in the workshop, the organizers said.
Sena and Nevada said they hope to make the Capture Panagbenga photography workshop an annual event during the Baguio Flower Festival. (Ryan Fernandez, UB Intern)
