LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A target of 60 couples might comprise the biggest Rose Wedding here.
Municipal registrar, Joan Bacoling, in charge of this year’s mass wedding, said the municipality is targeting a maximum of 60 couples this year. “The deadline for submission of names will be on the 15th.”
Last year there were 38 couples who opted to get married in civil rights officiated by Mayor Greg Abalos.
The Rose Wedding has been a tradition for the past three years, aiming to give couples who opt to get married in a civil wedding during the height of the festival, a special ceremony, providing a new innovation to the annual festival.
The tribute wedding gives highlight to the Valley’s flower production as well being one of the integral industries that make economic progress for the municipality aside from strawberries.
During the wedding the Municipal gym is dressed in white linen and lined with white, pink and red roses from local farms, decorated to become a dream wedding, complete with wedding photographers and videographers to document the couple’s precious moment.
At the stage were a large strawberry shaped cake stood with goblets and wine for the couples to partake. What they thought to be a simple civil mass wedding was transformed into a wedding planner’s delight, courtesy of municipal officials.
Gifts for the couples were sourced out from various sponsors including an overnight stay at hotels as gifts, department stores in the Valley as well in Baguio City pitched in to give tokens.
This year’s rose wedding is set on March 22.
