LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Municipal registrar Joan Bacoling said studies of the establishment of the Valley can be traced to as early as 1620 when a Spanish explorer discovered the area.
She said the studies are being complied and are set to be presented in March 25 in a theatrical presentation by various schools in the Valley.
Bacoling said the history of the Valley will be bared showing research the town was established before the formation of the City of Baguio dubbed as “La Trinidad, Shi Bunguit (Benguet), Tan Kafagway,” a multi cultural presentation.
The theatrical presentation will gather students from the Valley as well as the nearby universities in Baguio City to portray the arrival of Guillermo Galve, one of the first Spanish explorers to come to the town in the 1800s.
Bacoling said the research will prove that La Trinidad was established before Baguio City in a bid to make people appreciate further the history of the Valley.
Mayor Greg Abalos said the theme is meant to remind everyone of the establishment of the Valley even before that of Baguio City.
“We should open our minds and realize this now in order to look clearly into the future,” he said.
Abalos urged everyone to trace the history of the Valley and see the greatness of its past in order to have the lost sense of pride.
The presentation gathered experts from the University of the Philippines to work with the municipal government as well as students from the Valley to complete the cast of the presentation.
