POLICEMEN of Cordillera warned the public not to be easy – trusting when it comes to job offerings.
The embassy of the Republic of Singapore is requesting for police assistance to stop the job scam using the email addresses of the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) without their authorization.
This fake employment offers to a number of candidates from the Philippines for the position of staff nurses in SGH are issued through the email addresses of singaporegenhosp @yahoo.com, singaporegeneralhosp @ojoo.com, singaporegenhosp @hush.com. The scam makers also publicized and used their online job advertisement in their email communication to these candidates without SGH’s approval.
Accordingly, in the emails which were sent to the candidates allegedly under SGH’s name requesting for a payment of $3,800 through a bank account (not owned by SGH) as SGH embassy visa interview preparation fee. These emails were sent by forging SGH’s human resource director’s and nursing director’s signatures.
The SGH would like to put on records that their organization did not authorize any company under the abovementioned email addresses and/or its personnel to make any offer of employment on behalf of SGH and neither did they request for any form of payment to be made to them or to any bank account.
The Police Regional Office Cordillera urged the public to inform the office if there is any information regarding the users of the Singapore’s hospital perpetuating the scam in the country. Victims are also encouraged to report their situation to proper offices like the police office.
Apart from the Singapore’s name being used, there are also other names being faked claiming to offer job openings which does not exist. With this, the public is encourages to double check the name of the company offering the job before applying for it. The public is also encouraged to do background check on any person acting as middleman using any company’s names for employment. Check the background of the person or the company before paying anything (if there are) and get proper receipts for payments made. (Rubyloida Bitog)
