LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation president Brenden Kim Quintos has requested the legislative body to meet specifically to look into the youth code.
In a bid to assure the passing of the La Trinidad Youth Code, Qunitos has asked the help of the entire local council.
Quntos asked the legislative body to take the time to read the youth code and possibly jot down comments and suggestions to make the passing of the code in its 3rd and final reading, effortless.
Quintos has scheduled a special meeting as the soonest possible time to officially discuss the Valley Youth code with the August body.
"It is important to pass this code, as there will be no voice of the youth after November 30, when all the SK’s step down," the young councilor said.
The comprehensive code for the youth in the municipality has been approved in its second reading and has a strong chance to be passed in its 3rd and final reading before he relinquishes his post on November 30.
Councilor Henry Kipas acknowledging the urgency of the matter suggested a special meeting be scheduled to address youth concerns as well as the passing of the Valley code.
The youth code provides comprehensive policies for the youth, and contains the rights of the youth in the municipality both social and political assuring concerns of the Valley youth will be heard even if there is a vacancy in the SK post.
The youth code will also assure funding for projects as well as creation of the La Trinidad Council for Youth Development (MLTCYD).
The creation of the Municipality of La Trinidad Council for Youth Development (MLTCYD) shall be created to formulate plans that will promote the development and uphold the rights of the youth of the Municipality.
Quintos said the Youth Code is crafted to assure a continuity of programs and services for Valley youth and is urging other areas to do the same especially in the wake of the postponement SK elections as well as the vacating of all SK posts by the end of the year.
