INCUMBENT officials in areas classified by the Baguio City Police Office to have intense political rivalries retained their positions in Monday's barangay elections.
Among those who retained their positions as barangay chairmen Michael Karl Flores (Kabayanihan); Constancio Danao (Camp 7); and Reynaldo Cordoviz (Kagitingan).
Malcolm Square barangay chairman William Domogen, a third-term official, was elected as council member in his barangay together with Ali Barambangan, Mobarack Boripara, Malik Sultan, Mohammad Hadjiomar, Jabbar Abdul Asis Rascal and Abdul Hadji Hassan. Alona Soliman Cruz was elected barangay chairman.
In Kagitingan, elected as council members are Franco Cordoviz, Gil Dayag, Jerico Calixto, Marilou Garcia, Connie Tongawan, Crispin Carwel and Bardroding Lomondo.
Elected as Kabayanihan council members are Eduardo Fernandez, Susan Gundran, Juanito Olpindo, Eduardo Mangahas, Vangeline Vinluan, Felicisimo Sambade and Frauline Quiambao.
In Barangay Camp 7, elected as council members are Angelina Ramos, Juan Baldo, Arthur Alfonso, Marcelina Pucdo, Janet Lorena, Joel Buena and Susan Habbiling.
The officials were proclaimed after their names were verified by Board of Election Inspectors and Board of Canvassers before Monday midnight.
Commission on Elections acting Baguio election officer Anita Navalta said they will entertain protests but this does not automatically put into question the proclaimed winners, stressing these protests will have to undergo due process.
Navalta also reminded winning officials and losing candidates to submit within five days their Statement of Contributions and Expenditures and to file appropriate taxes to the Bureau of Internal Revenue.
She said elections in four declared areas of interest are generally peaceful except for some reports of some voters lacking identification cards, continued campaigning near voting precincts and long lines experienced by voters.
She said they will continue evaluating the list of registered voters in the mentioned barangays to remove all doubts on the validity of results.
