LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Incumbent Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) president Teddy Quintos retained his seat after winning his re-election bid in Monday's elections.
Quintos garnered nine votes over lone rival for the ABC seat, former councilor and municipal administrator Charles Canuto who got seven.
Quintos assumed the position after the midterm elections when former president and councilor Robert Namoro moved on to assume his role as provincial board member.
"We will continue the work we have done for the past five months," the ABC president said.
Quintos stressed that on top of his priorities is an effective solid waste management plan for the municipality.
"We will go back to a massive information campaign for the barangays," he revealed. Another priority of his is the environment, the committee Quintos chairs in the present council.
He admitted a lone village in the Valley segregates their trash here, Barangay Ambiong, where he is captain.
Quintos said at the start of the 2010, there was compliance with the segregation policy of the municipality, which in the end lacked follow through resulting in the eventual lack of compliance.
Barangay Ambiong, he said, is willing to take the lead role in the campaign to keep the street of the Valley clean.
