THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) calls on the public to submit scientific poster entries now as it started accepting entries nationwide.
The advisory came from the agency's advisory body, the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).
The entries will be for the Scientific Posters Session competition to be held as part of the organization's 36th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) on July 9-10, 2014 at its central office.
The poster competition has six categories, namely Agricultural Sciences; Biological Sciences; Chemical, Mathematical and Physical Sciences; Engineering Sciences and Technology; Health Sciences; and Social Sciences.
S&T Media Service Angelica de Leon revealed, “The papers must be original and have neither been presented in any other event or forum nor entered in any other competition. It must be the minimum of an undergraduate thesis and must have no preliminary data.”
She further said authors must submit their abstracts to 2014abstracts@ gmail.com not later than January 15, 2014 in order to qualify for the competition. She added authors should also affix a certification of originality for every entry submitted.
“Authors will be notified of their papers’ acceptance or rejection starting in May 2014. For those whose papers qualify for the Scientific Posters Session, they will receive further instructions regarding poster presentation details. Each author may present a maximum of three traditional posters; as major author in one poster and as co-author in the two other posters.”
For further details and guidelines, the public may visit the NAST website at www.nast.ph.
The NAST’s ASM gathers the country’s scientists, researchers, and technology experts for a series of roundtable discussions on how to best tap the country’s S&T capabilities in order to solve current national problems and fast track economic advancement.
