LA TRINIDAD, Benguet - Another suspected drug peddler was collared by anti-narcotic agents in a drug bust Saturday, December 7.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested Shanon Bayas, after months of evading the law at Poblacion, Buguias during an entrapment operation.
Bayas is a member of a local drug group and is a target-listed drug personality, previously acquitted of illegal sale and possession of Dangerous Drugs and an operator of a drug den here.
Bayas previously traded a sachet of exactly 0.93 gram of shabu to an undercover agent of PDEA agent in a buy-bust operation in Baguio City.
Bayas now faces criminal cases for the sale of Dangerous Drugs and violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Bayas is a member of the Olsim gang but had evaded arrest when PDEA agents collared their leader weeks ago.
The Olsim gang maintains drug dens where shabu is used or sold with gambling joints; the group is also believed to be in coordination with the Mandu gang, composed of pickpockets who operate in the Valley.
The Olsim gang supplies students, and truck drivers and vegetable porters with drugs.
Such dauntless anti-drug operation against the group last November 21 to 22 resulted in the capture of its leader in a simultaneous buy-bust operation and nailing of a newly identified member of the drug group during the warranted searches. Likewise, nine sachets of shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia were seized by the drug law enforcers.
