LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Teaching positions will be available in the province for prospective teachers.
Representative Ronald Cosalan said there are over 82 items for new teacher waiting to be filed up to address the shortage of teachers here.
The vacant positions will be filled up during school year 2014-2015 with 35 items allotted for kindergarten and elementary and 47 for secondary.
Amor Moresto, executive assistant to Cosalan, said the teaching items will be distributed to the various schools in the province based on the color-coding method being implemented by the Department of Education.
Moresto said the influx of new teachers is expected to improve the delivery of quality education in the province.
The Philippine Human Development Report (PHDR) cited the province to have a high literacy rate and access to education by its populace.
During school year 2013-2014, there were 143 new items opened for the province; 15 for kindergarten, 58 for elementary and 70 for secondary.
A DepEd memorandum outlining the guidelines in hiring for teacher 1 positions effective school year 2014-2015 has already been issued.
The guidelines will uphold the mandate of DepEd under the Magna Carta for Public School Teachers or Republic ACT No. 4670 which is to "promote and improve public school teachers' employment and career opportunities as well as to attract more people with proper qualifications to the teaching profession."
The DepEd will hire at least 31,335 elementary and high school teachers this year following the release of P9.5 billion to fund the hiring of Teacher I positions nationwide approved by the Department of Budget and Management.
