LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Former Governor Jaime Paul Panganiban succumbed to a lingering disease early morning Monday at the Benguet General Hospital.

His remains lie in state at the Benguet State University Anthorium Chapel until April 24, Thursday, after which he will be buried in his hometown in Mankayan.

Panginiban served as governor in 1992 to 1995, after which he led a life of public service to the people of province until his last days.

"Being the practical man he was, our dad requests for no flowers, just your presence," said son Fredrick Leo.

During the regular meeting of the provincial council Monday, Board Member Robert Namoro filed a resolution, condoling with the entire Panginiban family.

The motion was approved by the entire body, being one with the province in the loss of a leader.

A necrological service at the provincial Capitol will be offered in honor of Panginiban on Thursday, before his convoy to his final resting place in Mankayan town.

Namoro said the services will be attended by past and present Benguet officials who will give due respect to the former governor.

Panginiban served as governor after the term of Andres Bugnosen (1988-1992), while Raul Molintas took over in 1995.
