THE Department of Health (DOH) office in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) is calling on parents of Grade 5 female pupils from the public elementary schools of District III to avail themselves of the third dose of human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine.

Dr. Virginia Narciso announced during the Adolescent Health Development Program (AHDP) Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting held recently that those who will be given the third dose are pupils who were already given first and second doses of the vaccine.

The parents of the pupils can bring them to DOH-CAR from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and not later than first week of June.

The schools targeted for the HPV immunization are Alfonso Tabora Elementary School, Bonifacio Elementary School, Don Mariano Elementary School, Dona Nicasia J. Puyat Elementary School, Holyghost Extension Elementary School, Lucban Elementary School, Magsaysay Elementary School, Mabini Elementary School, Pinget Elementary School, Pinsao Elementary School, and Quirino Elementary School.

Studies show the vaccine prevents infection from the virus associated with the development of cervical cancer, genital warts, and other cancers. (Maria Aprila Cruz)
