Rice monggo curls and baby food blend products will be primarily produced in the facility aimed to be fed to children especially in Apayao, which Sicat noted as one of the provinces with the most malnutrition cases.
The facility has the capability to produce around 36,660 packs of rice monggo curls and food blends a month.
According to Sicat, the region has abundant monggo which can be transmuted into other products.
In case of inadequacy, the region can easily get supply from Region 2. Moreover, the regional director added the products can be utilized during disasters just like during Yolanda where they sent supplies of these products in Tacloban and other affected areas.
Aside from supply in malnutrition programs and disasters, the products can be commercialized.
Although some equipment are already in ASC, the DOST-CAR is still waiting for the P4M worth extrusion apparatus they ordered in Japan which is the main apparatus of the facility to arrive August 6.
