Baguio to assist BCDA-A A +A

BAGUIO City wants to help Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Mayor Mauricio Domogan said during his return in his weekly press forum responding to the recent suggestion of BCDA president and chief executive officer Arnel Paciano Casanova for the mayor to help collect arrears of Camp John Hay Development Corporation (CJHDC) instead of criticizing them.
"Gusto naman natin tulungan ang BCDA ang problema hindi kami magkasundo kung ano ang dapat gawin," he made clear.
Domogan said the City Government is willing to settle issues with BCDA and support them in their endeavors for Camp John Hay.
However, he stressed the BCDA keeps violating the conditionalities set under Resolution 362.
He highlighted the conflict between the city government, BCDA, CJHDevCo and John Hay Management Corporation in the implementation of the segregation of barangays; water permit and special patent application of BCDA; collection of taxes and arrears; and the implementation of building permit application among others.
"We support BCDA. We want to be partnered with BCDA. We support of course the development in the John Hay reservation," he said.
"(But) we continue to appeal to BCDA to rectify yung violations and to implement the conditions which they have failed to implement to date," he followed.
"We will continue to support them sa magandang programs that will enhance and achieve the development of John Hay," Domogan said stressing only if these efforts are in accordance with their contract with the City Government of Baguio.
If only the parties can amicably settle these issues, the city mayor believes the development of John Hay will be faster and more income will be generated in which both the BCDA and city government will benefit.
He suggests the BCDA. CJHDevCo, JHMC and the city government should peacefully convene and come up with an audit of provisions of their Memoranda of Agreement, assess what were properly implemented and which party failed to comply with their agreements, and quantify the amount of monetary obligations if there are to settle their issues.
