THE sell and use of fireworks and other pyrotechnics remained banned in La Trinidad.
La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda reminded the public the ban is still in effect and he will not sign any permits seeking to sell fireworks in the town.
Salda said fireworks and pyrotechnic have been banned last year through an ordinance which he vowed to implement.
“I will also have to instruct the Municipal Chief of Police to assure there will be no sellers of fireworks,” Salda said.
The mayor also emphasized authorities are instructed to confiscate pyrotechnics that are sold in the market.
“There will be no centralized fireworks either for New Year, maybe the Department of Tourism can offer because we can’t spend P300,000 for a 15 minute display.”
The past administration in the Valley approved the ban on sale of firecrackers to prevent untoward incidents related to firecrackers.
In November 11, 2014, Ordinance 17-2014 authored by Councilor Roderick Awingan was passed regulating the manufacture, sale, distribution, possession or use of pyrotechnic devices and prohibiting the manufacture, sale, distribution, possession or use of all forms of firecrackers in the valley.
Banned firecrackers in La Trinidad include watusi, piccolo, super lolo, atomic triangle, judas belt, bawang, pillbox, boga, goodbye Philippines, Bin Laden, Mother Rockers, lolo thunder, coke in can, kwiton, atomic bomb, five star, plapla, og, whistle bomb, kabasi, El diablo, or labintador, other unlabelled and imported firecrackers.
Specified pyrotechnic devices are sparkles, luces, fountain, jumbo regular, and special roman candle, trompilo, airwolf, butterfly, all kinds of pyrotechnic devices or pailaw, or other types equivalent.
It was cited in the ordinance that a fine from P1,000 to P2,500 and cancellation of business permit will be meted to violators.
