POLICE are on alert following a reported tribal conflict in Kalinga.
Based on a report by the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO), a firefight allegedly occurred in the morning of November 29 between the Gaang Tribe and Dacalan Tribe at Sorkok, Dacalan, Tanudan, Kalinga.
Members of the Tanudan Municipal Police Office responded on the alleged tribal conflict although firefight was reportedly over, with no casualties on both sides.
In a bid to maintain peace in the area, authorities set up a security post at the satellite municipal hall in Barangay Seet.
Kalinga police are currently assessing the situation. They conducted an emergency meeting with the chiefs of police and created a monitoring team while augmenting the Tanudan police.
Police have also coordinated with the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the area to direct the Tanudan policemen who belong to the two tribes to report to KPPO for instructions.
