Cordillera cops score anew vs loose firearms, illegal gamblers

TWO unlicensed gun holders and an illegal gambler were arrested in the Cordillera region following the intensified campaign against criminality.

Forty-one-year-old laborer Armando Dumaga Guinolwayan, a resident of Bulyunan, O-ong, Hingyon, Ifugao, was caught for possession of a firearm last Thursday, December 7, at sitio Nunpihipi.

Prior to his arrest, a concerned citizen informed the police that Guinolwayan fired his gun at his pigpen.

Responding operatives saw the suspect holding a gun which he immediately hid on the grass upon noticing the arrival of the policemen.

Guinolwayan failed to show his license and permit to carry when asked by police resulting to his arrest, and the recovery of one Colt automatic caliber .45 with one magazine having three ammunitions.

In San Juan, Abra, police also busted Carmelo Eyon Selong, 18 years old, a resident of Barangay Lanec, Tineg, during a checkpoint. Selong also failed to present pertinent documents authorizing him to possess a caliber .45, two magazine assembly with 14 ammunitions.

Cases of violation of R.A. 10591 otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Firearm and Ammunition Regulation Act” were filed against the two violators in court.

Meanwhile, the an anti-illegal gambling operation campaign by Abra police have resulted to the arrest of Jay-R Ventura Rivera, 24, and a resident of Brgy. Kimmalaba, Dolores, Abra.

Rivera was collared after he was caught in the act of playing drop ball on the night of December 4.

Joint detectives of CIDG-Abra, 1401st RMFB15, PIB Abra, and Dolores MPS was able to confiscate gambling paraphernalia and bet money amounting to P790 in different denominations.
