Friday, January 12, 2018

THE City Council of Baguio will have a new member.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed the papers for the assumption into office of Francisco Roberto Ortega VI to the local council of Baguio.

The official papers were released Wednesday, January 10 while the President was in the city to attend a wedding, but was dated December 29, 2017.

Pacoy, a 29-year–old criminology graduate has been chosen to continue the term of his late father, Roberto, fondly called “Bungo.”

Bungo held office in the city from 1995-2004 and was a former chief of police of Baguio from 1985 to 1987. His life was portrayed in the movies Markang Bungo: The Bobby Ortega Story in 1991 and Iligpit si Bobby Ortega: Markang Bungo 2 in 1995.

Pacoy obtained an endorsement from former Vice - President Jejomar Binay, head of the United Nationalist Alliance, where his father is affiliated.

“An overwhelming and my sincerest gratitude to all. Walang humpay na pasasalamat sa inyo pong lahat, makakaasa po kayo na tuloy tuloy po ang serbisyong Ortega para po sa ating minamahal na siyudad ng Baguio,” Pacoy via social media said.

Pacoy was chosen by the Ortega family as well as the party mates of the late councilor.

The Ortegas come from the illustrious clan known to hold public office in the north. His late father was serving his second term since 2013 where he held the committees on human rights, social justice, public protection and safety and peace and order.
