Bomb scare hits LTO-Baguio

Tuesday, February 13, 2018

OPERATION of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Pacdal, Baguio City was temporarily halted after receiving a bomb threat coming from an unidentified texter.

In a spot report of the Baguio City Police Office Station 3, Roselle Marie Cruz of LTO's information desk reviewed a text message from an unidentified texter indicating the presence of a bomb outside their office and was set to explode at 2 p.m. of February 13.

The text message read "May bomba sa labas ng office niyo, sasabog ng alas 2, Al'lah Albar!"

Cruz only had the chance to read the text message around 2 p.m. due to her work load but immediately informed her superiors who reported the threat to BCPO Station 3.

Upon receiving the report, BCPO Station 3 immediately informed BCPO central desk who dispatched the Explosives and Ordnance Division and K9 units at around 4 p.m. and conducted an inspection of the area following bomb threat and security protocol.

The result of the inspection turned out to be negative which gave way for LTO to continue their operations.

The BCPO is still continuing its investigation to determine the identity of the text messenger and the reason for the bomb threat.

LTO National Law Enforcement Chief Francis Almora called on the public to refrain from sending hoax messages which would tend to disrupt the operations of the LTO.

"We advice our employees and clients to be vigilant and to continue to coordinate with our office in terms of our services to them. We are hoping this hoax would not happen again since this may cause panic to our clientele, and would lead to a disruption our daily operations," Almora said.
