FOUR drug suspects and two firearm couriers were separately arrested in the provinces of Kalinga and Benguet over the weekend.
The drug suspects were on board two motorcycles coming from Barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga, and headed to Santiago City, Isabela, when flagged down in a checkpoint.
Confiscated from them were 6,500 grams of dried marijuana leaves worth P812,500.
The drug pushers were identified as Abdul Gafar F. Batuaan, Jonas D. Ang, Andre Gonzalo Lazada, and a minor.
Two suspects were also arrested on the same day for illegal possession of firearms after a concerned citizen reported them to the police.
Peter Dangiwan Chinalpan, 48, a construction worker and resident of Upper, Pinget, Baguio City, was nabbed after he indiscriminately fired his firearm. He was also caught in possession of assorted firearms placed in a bag in Nazarene Pico, Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The other suspect, Johnson Sawac Tindo, 25, a farmer and resident of Lam-ayan Bangao, Buguias, Benguet, was nabbed for carrying a firearm inside a videoke bar in Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.
Recovered from him was a caliber .45 pistol.
The arrested suspects were placed in the custody of concerned operating units while charges will be filed against them, said police.
