Murder case vs architect, 2 others now with court

THE murder case against an architect and two other suspects accused in the killing of the son of a Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) official is now with the Clerk of Court of Baguio City.

The raffling of the murder case has yet to be scheduled. Jude Wal II, a graduating student of Saint Louis University, was killed in 2008.

Charged with murder are architect Joseph Marrero, Ernesto Genetiano and Rolando Tomon. No bail was recommended.

Bumacod, who is from La Union, handled the case following prosecutors of Baguio City inhibited from the case.

Marrero was identified as the mastermind in Wal’s killing; Genetiano was identified as the gunman while Tomon acted as the lookout.

The architect allegedly ordered Genetiano to gun down Wal Sr. or his son.

Marrero then filed a motion for reconsideration and a Vigan City prosecutor later cleared him of any involvement.

Only Genetiano and Tomon should be charged, said Vigan City Prosecutor Jessica Viloria.

The Wals, however, asked for a review of the Viloria resolution with the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Last February 26, former DOJ Secrtary Agnes Devanadera set aside Viloria’s resolution and said Marrero should likewise be charged. She ordered the Regional State Prosecutor to file the information, 10 days from receipt of the resolution.

The resolution was received by the City Prosecutors Office last March 15, and it was approved last March 17 by City Prosecutor Alfredo Centeno.

The Office of the Clerk of Court said it received the information just Thursday, March 18.
