THE RESIDENCE halls of Saint Louis University form an integral part of the commitment of the university to give the best educational opportunities and services - within her means - to her students.

Envisioned as a second home for hundreds of male and female college students, our residence halls readily meet their requirements for basic and cozy housing accommodation that is convenient, affordable, healthy, safe and conducive.

Aside from being campus-based, what makes our SLU residence halls unique is that our interns develop a feeling of being a proud member of a huge family of Louisians and of having a “second home”.

The programs of our SLU men’s residence hall located at the Student Center are solely for the holistic improvement of the interns by assisting them to develop academically, spiritually, socially and physically.

Once a year, the administrators of our men’s dormitory organize activities where the interns, while they enjoy and are relaxed, will also develop social skills and promote camaraderie.

During these activities, our interns and the dormitory staff develop friendship which is one way of transforming their inter-relationships in the dormitory into more cordial atmosphere. These are just a few of the positive outcomes of the men’s dorm activities.

One of the most awaited activities by our interns is the Family Day. Annually, our SLU men’s residence hall pays tribute and honors the parents and guardians of our interns because our dormitory believes that without their support and efforts, the holistic development of our interns will not be complete.

A simple yet meaningful celebration is planned and implemented by our dorm masters, hall council officers and the interns themselves - all for the enjoyment and entertainment of the parents and guardians. This activity is also a venue where our interns who excel academically are recognized and honored. The Top 20 interns included in our Dormitory Director’s List are recognized together with their parents or guardians.

It has been observed by the constituents of our dorm, including the parents and guardians that the annual Family Day is one of the most significant activities in our dormitory because it strengthens the bond between the interns, their families, and the dormitory family.

Another most awaited activity is our annual sports festival which is a joint activity of our interns of both SLU’s men’s and the ladies’ residence halls. The interns of both dormitories are divided into four teams and each team participates in various events such as cheer bleacher, cheer dance, and mascot competition including a search for Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest.

Our interns also compete in basketball, chess, game of the generals and scrabble. Our male and female interns love this activity because they can work together as one team, and at the same time exercise their talents and skills.

Beyond the sheer enjoyment and satisfaction of our interns, these activities are organized to develop in them the SLU core values of competence, creativity, social involvement and Christian spirit.

That makes our SLU men’s dormitory unique indeed. It does not just provide a conducive and comfortable place to stay and study, but likewise a home where our interns learn, enjoy and live as one family under God, while preparing them for a future life that is mature, responsible and humane.
