Speak Out: Are you motivated?

COUPLES say motivation is the process of arousing both each highest satisfaction. Doctors say motivation is the process of eliciting knowledge and procedure to cure patient. Yet politicians say motivation is acquiring more projects for community development.

While administrators say motivation is the process of encouraging teachers to develop mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspect of children in order to get high score during achievement test.

But teachers put it as the process of arousing the interest of children to acquire knowledge and apply it to their daily life.

Motivation is in the forms of materials, promotion or in the form of praises. Materials are in the form of prices whether in cash or things. Promotion is the elevation of position to the next step. Praises which is the most difficult thing to do is uttering words that show appreciation to any accomplishment which will help in the development of self – esteem of an individual.

Motivation has a great effect on performance. In offices, subordinates must be motivated in order for them to give full support to their managers.

In the Department of Education, teachers who are motivated expelled everything to deal with their administrators as well as the learners. Teachers whose needs are satisfied tend to perform in all activities but later their performances declined.

However, teachers whose needs were not satisfied tend to strive more and more as the needs were not satisfied. As to the pupils, they are motivated if they actively participate in the teaching – learning process. Satisfaction is measured with the result of the evaluation tool given.

Thus, motivation must not be taken for granted for a better performance.

Positive approach to anyone either by good words, actions like tapping one’s shoulder can encourage slow learners to work positively.

Let us not wait for anyone to motivate us, let’s start persuading our children at home, our neighborhood and our co – workers to do good by showing the good examples. (Noemi Calingayan)
